Weaver Bomfords were invited to tender for a new printing solution to reduce costs and improve productivity and print security across the Roberts Group. As a fast-growing business, there were challenges in controlling and monitoring printing and scanning and in managing users and their access to print. The administration of the network had also become a burden for IT, as they were responsible for ordering toners and supporting users with printing issues.
Authentication and Follow Me
The introduction of proximity cards and readers on the devices has resulted in a Follow Me solution across the sprawling site. This has reduced waste from uncollected print and jobs printed in error, and has made the print network secure, helping with GDPR compliance. In addition, users are now easily identified and their permissions controlled, with the option to report on output and recharge costs.
A switch to more efficient devices
An audit of the print network has resulted in volume being moved away from expensive network printers to more cost effective MFPs. Simple printing rules have changed user behaviours, redirecting work and enforcing defaults to mono and to duplex results in immediate savings.
Outsourced user support
By providing a user helpdesk and hardware support, Weaver have reduced the reliance on the in-house IT department to deal with minor printing issues and repairs. The Weaver Remote monitoring service has also significantly reduced the burden of toner ordering and administration, with toners being automatically ordered and supplied as the devices need them.
