In Partnership With The Nantwich Foodbank

A few weeks ago we proudly supported the The Trussell Trust and the Nantwich foodbank in putting together a map of services for the Nantwich area. We started this project back in 2014 with Paul and Jane and are proud to be involved once again. The map has officially been relaunched and all the new changes have been made.

We helped Paul put together volunteer packs so that each person had their own pack of information to help each client and their needs. From laminated maps to checklists. We really hope the project goes from strength to strength.

Below is the full write up article by Ella Briggs, which was published in the Crewe Chronicle.

“Here at Nantwich Foodbank we re-launched our signposting initiative. Many people may think that the role of the Foodbank is simply to provide the immediate benefit of food and other supplies. However, an integral part of our work is empowering clients by pointing them in the direction of appropriate help and support. Volunteers see this as the most challenging, but rewarding part of their role.

Paul Stone, a long-serving volunteer and trustee has updated the ‘Local Services Map’, depicting the organisations in the Crewe and Nantwich area that can help to further advise our clients, with the aim of enabling them to overcome their problems.
“It is important for both volunteers and clients to have the information regarding available services at their fingertips,” Paul explained. This opportunity also allowed Paul, working alongside the Foodbank Manager, Jane Emery, to review and update the organisations we recommend, identifying those services which we most frequently call upon.

The creation of a service checklist aims to help new volunteers in what can be a very challenging role, as well as to provide clients with a better and more uniform service. “We want our Foodbank volunteers to demonstrate a deep level of understanding to inspire trust and confidence from our clients,” explained Jane.

The ‘Local Services Map’ has been printed courtesy of Weaver & Bomfords, to whom we are very grateful. It is displayed prominently in Market Street Church Hall, where we are based. The Foodbank itself is open on Mondays and Fridays, 12 till 2. Please keep up to date with our stock needs following us on Facebook, Twitter and on the website.”
